(Assistance to State and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations for emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities):

Clallam, Clark, Columbia, Cowlitz, Garfield, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, King, Klickitat, Lewis, Lincoln, Mason, Pacific, Pend Oreille, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Spokane, Stevens, Thurston, Wahkiakum, Walla Walla, and Whatcom Counties.

(Assistance for emergency protective measures (Category B), including snow removal assistance, to save lives and to protect public health and safety):

Homeowners, renters, and business owners who had flood losses should call the FEMA registration line at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) to apply for disaster aid. Individuals with hearing or speech impairments should call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. The lines are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.  You can also register online at www.disasterassistance.gov.

Damage Reporting

King County:

Damage reporting for primary residences and businesses can be done through the King County Emergency Management Department by phone or online. Even loss and damage that is insured should be reported so it can combined with other reports and forwarded to the state for analysis.

United Houma Tribe (Louisiana) affected by Hurricane Gustav

With much of the media focus on New Orleans, it seems the Gulf Coast was spared major damages from Hurricane Gustav on Sept 1, 2008. Once again, the Tribal communities of the Gulf Coast were virtually ignored yet suffered significant destruction to their communities.  The president  signed a disaster declaration for Public Assistance in Washington State that included 19 counties and 21 Native American Tribes. The declaration was for the “severe winter storm, landslides and mudslides” that occurred December 14-15 2006.
